Website is a tool for your business. Website is not the business. Some people mistake a website as their full business. It is highly recommended to have other marketing tools along with a website.

Most people can benefit from having a website. For example if you have a store front, having a website will help reach customers in other areas. Locals can find you online and go to your store. People who do not live in your town can buy from you if you have an ecommerce (selling products) website.  You live in smalltown, USA... with a website you are not limited to customers in your surrounding area. Someone from New York could buy from some one in California. If you want to reach a broader market a website is a good tool.

If you do other direct sales perhaps you do flea markets, home parties, or craft shows, having a website could help reach a broader market.  I sell garden goods. I really don't have the finances to show off all products at the market. I can show my website to my customers for additional shopping. Its great for the fountains and large items that I don't have room to stock. Customers can find the larger items on the website.

Perhaps you do fundraisers for the schools or other places. Having a website will help get donations and clients outside our normal area.

There is a saying in today's world "if you are not online you be left behind".  Being on a line is a good way to reach a broader market of people and prospective customers.

Keep in mind a website can be a good marketing tool it is recommended to have other marketing tools to go along with the website. 

.   There are free companies to build your website. They are not recommended. Often the free companies will have their advertisements at the top of the page. The ads from the free company at the top or the side will interfere with the purpose of your website. There are many host out that there that offer affordable hosting. Find someone who is a work at home wahm to host your site. Often wahms will let you make payments on web design if you need a designer. Some hosting companies offer site builder where you can build your own website without added software. Like all things you just have to shop around.
