It is not easy to work at home and raise a family. But the good point of working at home, you get to care for your family. Plus you get to see your family grow. It is recommended by officials that if you are working outside of the home do not quit your other job if you do not have to. Do not quit the outside job unless you can afford to without hurting your family.  If you are earning $600 at work your babysitter is $600 then maybe you can afford to stay home and not pay the babysitter. If you are earning $1200 at work and your babysitter is $600...can you afford to lose that extra $600 income?

it is recommended to have your home business income try to match what you make at work. At least where you can live ok as long as you do a few cut backs. You may not eat out as much. Perhaps not buy as many clothes for yourself. Cut back on renting movies. You also save on the gas or transit that use to go to work. You have to weigh and measure the pros and cons and decide if you can afford to stay home. All is not lost you can work at home while working an outside job. Just spend a few hours a week on your work at home biz. Once you get the biz going maybe you can stay at home.   

The trick of working at home with a family is scheduling your time. You need to have time for the family plus time for your business. You may be doing your work before the kids get up or after they go to bed. The trick is scheduling your time accordingly. If the kids are older you can share with them for example this is my time for business once I get this done we go to the park. Make sure your children don't get left out in your planning time.

Family should always come first.
